Folks,
Sheriff Dusty Hargrove here, and I’m gonna keep this plain and simple.
Serving as Sheriff of Blaine County has been one of the greatest honors of my life. This county means something to me. These roads, these people, these businesses, these families — they’re part of who I am. I’ve spent a long time trying to do right by this badge and by the people who call this place home.
But sometimes service means knowing when the good Lord is opening a different door.
I’ve made the decision to step down as Sheriff of the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office so I can take on a new role as Vice President. This was not a choice I made lightly, and it sure as hell wasn’t one made without a whole lot of thought. Blaine County will always have my heart, and no title in this world will ever change that.
Now, with that said, I want to be real clear about something:
The Sheriff’s Office is being left in steady hands.
Effective immediately, long-time Vietnamese grandma Ms. Ling, better known to many of y’all as Ms. Ling, will be taking charge of the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office.
Some of you know her.
Some of you have learned the hard way not to underestimate her.
And the rest of you are about to find out.
Ms. Ling may carry herself with grace, wisdom, and that quiet kind of strength you only get from living a full life, but make no mistake — she is more than capable of leading this department forward. She understands people, she understands duty, and she understands what it means to keep order in a county that can get rowdy before breakfast.
I have full faith in her leadership, and I expect the same respect and cooperation from this county that you gave me, trust me, I've seen her gun down a group of 40 assailants before.
This transition does not mean Blaine County is losing its backbone, lord knows she'll bring one of her own too!
It means Blaine County is continuing on with someone who knows how to stand firm, speak plainly, and handle business.
To the deputies, staff, and folks who stood with me through long nights, hard calls, and county chaos — thank you.
To the people of Blaine County — thank you for trusting me.
And to Ms. Ling — may God help whoever thinks they’re gonna test you, I sure as hell know what you're capable of.
Blaine County takes care of its own. Always has. Always will.
That does not change today.
Stay safe. Look after one another. And give Ms. Ling the support she deserves as she steps into this role, I still live in Blaine County, so I'm still close.
